ADMIN'S PERSECUTION SPREE GONE BERSERK

The government’s persecution spree has gone into berserk mode, throwing all legal procedures out the window just to pin him on theDacer-Corbito case, Sen. Panfilo M. Lacson lamented Saturday.Lacson said even the daughters of PR man Salvador Dacer and formerSenior Superintendent Cezar Mancao II were made victims of this spree,as their rights are being twisted.“This administration has gone berserk. They should at least give duerespect and regard to the legal procedure. The Dacer daughters andMancao are not here to personally swear and attest to the truthfulnessof their affidavits before the prosecutor, and yet they haveprematurely announced a formal filing of a criminal complaint againstme,” he said.“It has therefore become obvious that they are engaged in persecutionrather than prosecution under the rule of law,” he added.Lacson noted that while Mancao is still in the United States, hisso-called affidavit had already been published and used as basis foranother round of smear drives against him.Earlier, Lacson said that while he respects the right of the Dacerfamily to find justice, they may be committing a more seriousinjustice with their latest action. But he maintained he remains confident the truth and evidence willprove his innocence.“As long as truth and evidence will be the basis in resolving thiscase, I have nothing to fear,” he said.
